ANSWER: We do not recommend gas additives for all to use for E10 prevention.
Most should have minimal problems with E10 fuel, when your engine manufacturer approves of use of ethanol blends, and gas is of good quality at time of purchase.
Good quality = Meets ASTM standards, does not contain water, has below 10% legal max for ethanol, is appropriate octane for your engine, etc.
But, certain engines are simply just not designed for alcohol blends.
View manufacturer warnings.
And long term storage of E10 often requires addition of a fuel stabilizer and corrosion inhibitor, to delay water absorption and engine damage.
When all (Non-Additve) E10 precautions have failed,
and you can not find ethanol-free gasoline, we recommend petroleum-based "fuel stabilizers" and/or "fuel conditioners" to delay phase-separation/water contamination.
There are thousands of different fuel additive products- We only recommend a handful of the most effective and safe products. These product manufacturers have one thing in common -They are reputable companies that understand the peculiar properties of E10 gasoline.
Beware of companies that use scare tactics, whose sole motivation is to profit on all the negative press E10 has received recently.
How do I treat water contaminated fuel?
Most gas treatment products in the market can NOT safely or effectively remove water from E10 blends of fuel without some risk and negative effects.
The only "additive" we know of (available to the public) that seems to actually remove water from contaminated phase separated fuel, while maintaining octane and gas quality, is a new product called Hydroburn by Cim-tek. Since Hydroburn contains alcohol and strong solvents, we believe it should only be used by those experienced in treatment of contaminated gas, not prevention.

FAQ: "What gas additive does Fuel-Testers most often recommend?"
Purchasing high quality fresh gas (gasoline that does not contain water or over-legal 10% of ethanol),
and following all necessary precautions is your best defense against E10 gas contamination.
Check fuel quality at time of purchase. A fuel-tester and quik-check solution will also reveal alcohol content of liquid fuel additives.
- Also remember that not a single conventional engine manufacturer approves of gasoline containing over 10% ethanol (at this time).
Using alcohol based additives can raise alcohol content of fuel in tank over 10% which will invalidate your engine warranty for fuel system repairs, if damage occurs.
